Saronic establishes Gulfport test site for unmanned vessel Marauder
Mississippi is becoming a hub for advanced maritime technology as Saronic announced it will establish a testing site at the Port of Gulfport for its medium unmanned surface vessel, Marauder.
The company said the move reflects long-term state efforts to support unmanned maritime systems, noting that “the state of Mississippi has spent years building the conditions that unmanned maritime systems require, having the foresight to invest ahead of market demand.”
Saronic, which develops unmanned maritime systems, did not provide a testing timeline or additional operational details in its announcement. The Port of Gulfport, a major seaport on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, offers deepwater access and proximity to commercial and military maritime activity, factors that often attract testing and research for naval and commercial technologies.
Unmanned surface vessels are used in roles such as coastal surveillance, research, and logistics, and testing sites can accelerate development by providing real-world operating conditions.
