Toppers sweep Crowley’s Ridge in doubleheader

Blue Mountain Christian swept Crowley’s Ridge College in a doubleheader Tuesday in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, winning 11-3 and 14-2, the school said.

In the opener Crowley’s Ridge jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but the Toppers answered with a four-run bottom half highlighted by aggressive baserunning and extra-base hits that shifted momentum. Blue Mountain Christian steadily added runs and closed out an 11-3 victory as Neely Cooper provided steady work in the circle.

Game two followed a similar pattern. After Crowley’s Ridge scored two early runs, the Toppers erupted with a multi-run surge that put the game out of reach by the third inning. Blue Mountain Christian continued to add insurance runs and finished a 14-2 win while Jana Shaw worked efficiently on the mound.

The doubleheader sweep showcased opportunistic hitting, aggressive baserunning and composed pitching and gives Blue Mountain Christian momentum as the season progresses. The Toppers return to action Feb. 20 against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College at 2 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
