Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was selected as the SEC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Rebels to a victory over No. 7 LSU, the conference office announced Monday.

Chambliss completed a career-high 33 passes for 363 yards and three total touchdowns as Ole Miss won at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in front of a record crowd. He connected with Traylon Ray on a 21-yard touchdown that extended the Rebels’ lead to 17-0 midway through the second quarter, then found Deuce Alexander for a score with less than two minutes remaining before halftime to put Ole Miss ahead 24-7.

After LSU rallied to tie the game at 24-24, Chambliss scored his second rushing touchdown of the season and Ole Miss made a two-point conversion to take a 32-24 lead.

Chambliss leads the SEC and ranks sixth nationally with an average of 308.0 passing yards per game this season. He also leads the conference in completions per game, averaging 25.7.

Ole Miss, recently elevated to No. 4 in the AP Poll, will play No. 21 Florida in Gainesville on Saturday, September 26, at 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
