Jackson State, Alabama A&M bring four-game winning streaks to Gulf Coast Challenge
No. 23/25 Jackson State will face Alabama A&M at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile for the fifth consecutive Gulf Coast Challenge meeting between the teams. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. on SWACTV.
Both teams enter the game on four-game winning streaks after victories in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. Jackson State is 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play after defeating Southern at home, while Alabama A&M is 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the SWAC after winning at Florida A&M.
Jackson State has won the previous four meetings with Alabama A&M in Mobile at the classic. Saturday’s game will be the fifth meeting between the schools at the Gulf Coast Challenge.
Rain and thunderstorms are forecast throughout Saturday, conditions that could affect the contest.
Jackson State enters the matchup with national rankings in several team categories, including first in blocked kicks allowed, blocked punts allowed, fumbles lost, passing yards per completion, team passing efficiency and winning percentage. The Tigers also rank third in total offense, fourth in rushing defense and scoring offense, and ninth in total defense and team sacks.
Several Jackson State players also rank nationally. Justin Foster is fourth in sacks per game, Nate Rembert is fourth in yards per reception and Andrew Ivaniciuc is eighth in field goals per game.
The Tigers are 16-3 at home under coach T.C. Taylor since he took over in 2023, including a 6-0 home record in 2024. Jackson State has not lost a nonconference home game under Taylor.
