Blue Mountain Christian draws Wesleyan 1-1 on Senior Day

Blue Mountain Christian and Wesleyan College played to a 1-1 draw Saturday at The Summit in the SSAC Women’s Soccer Match of the Week on Senior Day.

Wesleyan took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute when Caleigh Patton scored from approximately 35 yards. Blue Mountain Christian applied pressure through the rest of the first half, outshooting Wesleyan 17-5, including six shots on goal, but entered halftime trailing.

Daniela Nieto equalized at the 76:07 mark. Nieto led the Toppers with seven shots, while Nayelli Aguayo had six shots, two of them on goal, and Taylor Duggar put both of her attempts on target.

Blue Mountain Christian finished with a 28-16 advantage in total shots and a 9-7 edge in shots on goal. Both teams earned six corner kicks.

Sophie Young started in goal for Blue Mountain Christian and made one save before Kiana Gordon entered just over three minutes into the match. Gordon played the remaining 86:53 and made five saves.

Blue Mountain Christian will play the UT-Southern Firehawks next Saturday in Pulaski, Tennessee.
