Supporters mark four-year anniversary of Dobbs decision
A Facebook post marked the four-year anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, praising Mississippi for its role in the case and heralding the end of Roe v. Wade. The post called the overturning of Roe v. Wade “correct” and said Mississippi “will forevermore be remembered for protecting the lives of the most vulnerable among us,” adding that the state had “saved the lives of millions of unborn babies for generations to come.”
The Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization ruling, issued by the Supreme Court in June 2022, overturned the nearly 50-year-old Roe v. Wade decision and returned authority over abortion policy to the states. The case stemmed from a Mississippi law restricting most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
The social media post reflects views held by supporters of the Dobbs ruling, who argue that state-level regulation better protects unborn children. Critics of the decision say it reduced access to abortion care and led to a patchwork of state laws across the country with varying limits and protections.
The post concluded with an expression of religious affirmation, ending “AMEN!” followed by a prayer-hand emoji. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
