Reeves touts national awards for Mississippi economic development
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said in a Facebook post that his administration has won two national awards for economic development, including a Gold Shovel from Area Development.
Reeves said the awards represent “billions of dollars” in new private capital investment and “thousands of new high-paying jobs” created across the state, and he credited conservative policies and a “world-class workforce” for the results, according to the post.
The Gold Shovel Award, presented by Area Development, is a national recognition given to states for success in attracting capital investment and job creation. State officials and economic development agencies often cite such honors as indicators of competitiveness when marketing to prospective employers and investors.
Economic development awards can bolster a state’s reputation and support ongoing efforts to recruit businesses, though officials typically point to specific projects and announcements for full details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
