Mississippi ranks second in the nation for high car tag fees, report finds

Mississippi has the second-highest car registration fees in the United States, according to a recent analysis by local analysts.

The report highlights that the fees are not only costly but also determined through a complex process that was previously inaccessible to taxpayers. The full formula used to calculate fees was not publicly available until now.

In response, the analysts developed a formula and created a map to help residents determine their specific fees based on location. They say they will continue efforts to improve transparency in state government operations.
