Mississippi first lady, husband mourn Rep. Price Wallace
In a Facebook post, the First Lady of Mississippi, Elee Reeves, and her husband said they are saddened to learn of the death of State Rep. Price Wallace.
The post said Wallace served nine years in the Mississippi House of Representatives and cared deeply for constituents in Rankin and Simpson counties. It described him as a man who loved people, his family and Simpson County, and who loved serving the people of Mississippi.
As chairman of the House Constitution Committee, the post said Wallace led efforts on landmark legislation, including restoring the Ballot Initiative that the House passed numerous times. It said he believed in restoring the constitutional right for Mississippians to have a fair and accessible means of influencing state policy.
The post noted Wallace was a poultry farmer and a longtime advocate for Mississippi agriculture, called him a proud Republican and said he enjoyed the title of granddaddy. The authors asked readers to keep his wife, Cindy, and the entire Wallace family in their prayers.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
