DOE says it can block Chinese tech while protecting ratepayers in Mississippi
The U.S. Department of Energy said on its Facebook page that it can “refuse to surrender the future of technology to China” while also protecting ratepayers, and added, “That’s what we’ve done in Mississippi!” the post said.
The brief social-media message included the slogan “America First!” and a U.S. flag emoji but did not provide details about the measures the department said it took in Mississippi.
The Department of Energy oversees national energy policy, research and development programs, and efforts to secure critical energy infrastructure. In recent years, U.S. officials have expressed concern about global competition in technology and supply chains, including competition with China, and about ensuring that utility customers are shielded from rising costs.
The Facebook post is the latest example of the department using public messaging to highlight domestic initiatives; however, the post did not specify the actions taken or the results in Mississippi. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
