STARKVILLE, Miss. — A man was arrested after a vehicle fled a police checkpoint and crashed on North Frontage Road, authorities say.
On December 12, officers with the Starkville Police Department were conducting a driver’s license checkpoint near Highway 389 and Garrard Road when the driver of a vehicle evaded officers. The pursuit was called off due to safety concerns. The vehicle was later found wrecked by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver, Lanforth Lee, 36, of Shuqualak, was arrested on December 16 and faces charges of felony fleeing, reckless driving, and failure to signal. Gina Hill, 38, of Columbus, was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact, a felony, police said.
The Starkville Police Department thanked the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance. Authorities encourage anyone with information about the incident or other criminal activity to contact the department at 662-323-4131 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-530-7151. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online, with rewards possible.
