Reeves launches $15 million Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship grant cycle

Gov. Tate Reeves announced Monday the launch of the fifth grant application cycle for the Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund, backed by $15 million appropriated during the 2026 Legislative Session. The MOSTF Board of Trustees will begin accepting grant applications on Aug. 3, the governor’s office said.

Reeves said in a Facebook post, “Mississippi is one of the most beautiful places in America — I’m proud of the work we’ve done to keep it that way.” The announcement highlights continued state investment in projects intended to conserve natural areas and expand outdoor recreation opportunities.

The Mississippi Outdoor Stewardship Trust Fund provides competitive grants for local governments, nonprofits and other entities to support land conservation, public access and outdoor recreation projects across the state. Funding rounds like this one can help protect natural resources, enhance tourism and support local economies that rely on outdoor recreation.
