Meridian keeps boil water notice in effect after pipe repair

The city of Meridian, Mississippi, continues to issue a boil water notice following repair work on a water line that had a continuous fracture, officials say.

City crews completed repairs and restored water service Saturday. The system is stabilizing, and authorities plan to lift the notice around 7:30 a.m. Sunday, pending water quality tests.

Public Works Director David Hodge said crews worked carefully to ensure the system’s safety before resuming service. Mayor Percy Bland thanked public works employees for their efforts to protect the community.
