Crime Stoppers Honors Community Leaders at Annual Luncheon

Members of Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi recognized several individuals for their support during the organization’s annual Appreciation and Awards Luncheon.

Christy Scheuer received the Community Service Representative award, and Veronica Mejia was honored as the Pathway Food Service Program ICC Media Representative. Corporal Adam Zachary of the Mississippi Highway Patrol was named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Norman Griffin, a Crime Stoppers board member from Chickasaw County, was named Board Member of the Year, though he was not present at the event.

Organizers expressed gratitude to law enforcement officers for their dedication to protecting communities, according to a post on the organization’s Facebook page.

Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
