Capitol Police Seek Help in Deadly Hit-and-Run Case

Capitol Police are asking the public for assistance in a fatal hit-and-run investigation.

On Nov. 17, 2024, at about 6:51 p.m., officers responded to Raymond Road near Valley Street, underneath the viaduct, after reports of a collision. They found Cedric Jones lying motionless on the pavement.

Jones was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment but died on Feb. 2, 2025, from his injuries.

Police urge anyone with information to call Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers. Tips leading to an arrest could be rewarded with up to $2,500. To provide information, call 601-355-TIPS or submit an online tip here.
