8 Year Old Madison Girl Dead After Getting Struck by School Bus

A Madison girl is dead after getting struck by a school bus at Cobblestone Drive and Rockwood Drive while riding her bicycle.

Madison Police Department responded to the call at around 4:20 on Wednesday. The girl was assisted by first responders on the scene and then transported to University of Mississippi Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition and then later died from her injuries, according to Madison Police Department.

The identity of the child has not yet been released.

Authorities are asking the public to avoid the area as the investigation continues, as results of the investigation will be forwarded to the Madison/ Rankin County District Attorney’s Office.

The children that were riding the bus when the accident occured have been placed safely back with their parents.
