12-Year-Old Injured in Vehicle-Pedestrian Accident Near Madison School

MADISON, Miss. – A 12-year-old girl was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after being struck by a pickup truck near a school in Madison.

According to the Madison Police Department, the accident happened at approximately 3:48 p.m. on August 12 along Old Canton Road, just south of Saint Augustine Drive, near Madison Ridgeland Academy. Police say a 16-year-old was driving a 2014 Toyota Tundra northbound when the girl attempted to cross the road.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where she is listed in serious but stable condition. The juvenile driver was not injured.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing, and due to the involvement of minors, no additional information is being released at this time. Madison Police extended their thoughts and prayers to everyone involved.
