Mississippi auditor says state has nation’s second-highest car tag fees
The Mississippi Office of the State Auditor said the state has the second-highest car tag fees in the country and called on government entities with authority over those costs to reduce them.
The office said the state Legislature, counties, special districts and municipalities all have the power to reduce car tag prices, adding that doing so is in Mississippi taxpayers’ best interest.
The office also said Mississippians deserve to have their tax dollars defended at every level of government and that it will continue defending those dollars in a way that best serves them.
