Portion of University Drive closes for Starkville Frostbite races

A portion of University Drive will be closed Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, from 5 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for the Starkville Frostbite Half-Marathon, 10K and 5K, officials said. The run is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.

Authorities warned motorists to expect brief delays along the race route as officers assist runners through intersections. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and to follow directions from officers and event personnel in the area.

The Starkville Frostbite is a community running event that features multiple distances to accommodate a range of participants. Road closures and traffic control are common for organized races to ensure the safety of runners and the public, and they can affect local traffic patterns and access to nearby businesses and residences.

Organizers and local officials typically coordinate timing and route management in advance; residents and commuters should plan alternate routes if possible. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
