Oxford Police train in tactical casualty care

Officers with the Oxford Police Department recently participated in Tactical Combat Casualty Care training, the department said in a Facebook post, sharpening life-saving skills intended to make a critical difference in emergencies.

The Facebook post said the training covered medical response and officer safety. Tactical Combat Casualty Care, commonly known as TCCC, is a set of protocols developed to treat traumatic injuries in high-threat environments and is used by military and many civilian tactical teams to prioritize rapid, life-saving interventions.

The Oxford Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency serving the city of Oxford, Mississippi, a college town that is home to the University of Mississippi. Departments nationwide often conduct regular scenario-based medical and tactical training to improve outcomes for officers and civilians during shootings, severe accidents or other critical incidents.
