Oxford PD honors Captain Donovan Lyons

The Oxford Police Department said in a Facebook post that it was “honored to celebrate Captain Donovan Lyons and his incredible career,” thanking community members and colleagues who attended the event to show support.

Captain Donovan Lyons was recognized by the department as someone whose dedication has made a lasting impact on both the police force and the community it serves, the post said. The message also wished Lyons well as he “enters your next chapter.”

Police captains typically oversee divisions, manage personnel and coordinate operations, roles that make them central to departmental leadership and public safety. Ceremonies and public acknowledgments allow departments to highlight long service, reinforce ties with residents and show appreciation for officers’ contributions.

The department encouraged those who came out to celebrate and thanked them for their support in the Facebook post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
