NWS Jackson posts weather photos on Facebook

The U.S. National Weather Service in Jackson, Mississippi recently posted photos on its Facebook page, sharing images intended to inform the public about local weather conditions.

The Jackson office is a local forecast center within the National Weather Service network that issues forecasts, watches and warnings, and provides weather information to residents, emergency managers and media across the region.

Photos published by National Weather Service offices often serve several purposes: they document conditions on the ground, assist with situational awareness during severe weather, support damage assessment and help the public better understand hazards. Social media has become a routine tool for the agency to deliver timely visual information alongside forecasts and alerts.

The Facebook post contained photos but provided limited accompanying detail on the page. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
