Lee County sheriff praises chaplain leading weekly Bible study
Lee County Sheriff Jim H. Johnson thanked Dr. Keith Cochran, chaplain for the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, for leading a weekly, voluntary Bible study for department staff, saying Cochran’s leadership and spiritual guidance have provided encouragement and support. Johnson conveyed his remarks in a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office.
In the post, Johnson said the Bible study sessions “have proven to be a meaningful source of encouragement, providing strength, reflection, and support for those who choose to attend.” He added, “We are grateful for his heart to serve and for the continued positive impact he is making within our agency.”
Law enforcement chaplains typically offer spiritual counsel, emotional support and crisis intervention to officers and civilian staff. Voluntary faith-based gatherings like weekly Bible study are often intended to help personnel manage stress, reflect on the demands of the job and build camaraderie among coworkers.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for its county and employs sworn officers and civilian staff who carry out public safety duties. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
