Judge holds suspect without bond in Raymond Road murder

JACKSON — A suspect in Jackson’s seventh homicide of the year appeared in municipal court Wednesday and was ordered held without bond on a murder charge, the Jackson Police Department said.

Police identified the suspect as Jamecia Harper, who appeared before a municipal court judge on Feb. 18, 2026, in connection with Homicide No. 7. Investigators have linked the case to an incident in the 1600 block of Raymond Road, the department said.

Authorities said Harper received a $50,000 bond on a charge of convicted felon in possession of a firearm and was denied bond on the murder charge. The case remains under investigation, the department added.
