Jackson police investigate homicide on Northpointe Parkway

Jackson police are investigating a homicide after officers found a man shot to death early Monday in the 600 block of Northpointe Parkway, the department said.

Dispatchers received the call at 12:09 a.m., and Precinct 4 officers found the body of a Black man lying on the sidewalk between two apartment buildings, Jackson Police Department said. The victim had been shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries.

The department identified the victim as 27-year-old Anthony Watts and said his next of kin have been notified. Police described the suspect vehicle as a late-model black Nissan believed to have been occupied by three people, and said the shooting is believed to stem from an ongoing dispute between the suspect and the victim.
