Jackson man charged after allegedly setting fire at grandmother’s home
JACKSON — A Jackson man is facing arson-related charges after he allegedly set fire to grass in his grandmother’s yard and poured gasoline in the driveway and carport of her home, Fire Chief Charles Felton said Friday.
The incident happened March 27 at 5:35 p.m. at a home in the 500 block of Wellington Road in Jackson, Felton said. Felton said Kahari Thicken ignited grass on the property and poured gasoline in the driveway and carport area but did not ignite the gasoline.
Thicken, who is from Jackson, will be charged with third-degree arson involving personal property and fourth-degree arson for attempted arson, Felton said. No additional information was immediately available.
Arson charges vary by jurisdiction but generally involve damage to property and carry serious legal consequences. Officials did not disclose whether anyone was injured. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
