GCF Student Union serves as campus warming center during winter weather
GCF Student Union remains open and is serving as the campus’ designated warming center as winter weather continues to affect the area, a campus Facebook post said. Students and employees who need a safe, warm place are encouraged to use the facility.
The post said Rebel Market is open and serving food to students and is continuing to operate as the institution’s food service location during the event. Dining teams are working to support students on campus, the notice said.
Warming centers provide refuge during periods of extreme cold and help reduce the health risks associated with prolonged exposure to low temperatures. Campus officials urged community members to take precautions, monitor conditions and seek shelter if needed.
Please continue to stay safe and watch for additional updates, the post said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
