UMMC names Brad Ingram McCarty Chair of Neurology

The University of Mississippi Medical Center has named Dr. Brad Ingram McCarty Chair of Neurology, recognizing his career caring for patients with neurological disorders, advancing research and training the next generation of physicians, UMMC said.

Ingram has spent his career treating patients with a range of neurological conditions while also participating in research and medical education, the university noted. Those combined roles are central to UMMC’s mission as an academic medical center in Jackson, Mississippi, that provides clinical care, trains health professionals and conducts biomedical research.

The McCarty Chair of Neurology is described by UMMC as one of its most distinguished academic honors. Named or endowed chairs at medical centers typically acknowledge sustained scholarly leadership and often provide faculty members with resources and protected time to pursue research, program development and educational initiatives.

UMMC and Ingram said the appointment highlights the institution’s emphasis on neurological care, research and training in the region and could help strengthen services and educational programs. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
