Mississippi Miracles Radiothon raises nearly $300,000 for Children’s of Mississippi

For 25 years, the Mississippi Miracles Radiothon has given families a platform to share their journeys and allowed donors statewide to support pediatric care, the University of Mississippi Medical Center said in a Facebook post.

UMMC said generous donors helped raise nearly $300,000 this year for Children’s of Mississippi, the health system’s pediatric services based in Jackson. The funds will support the specialized care that children across the state rely on every day, UMMC said.

The annual radiothon brings together broadcasters, families and community members to highlight the needs of sick children and to encourage contributions. UMMC and Children’s of Mississippi have used similar fundraising efforts in past years to help fund patient services, equipment and family support programs, organizers have said in previous reporting.

The event marks a quarter-century of community fundraising for pediatric health care in Mississippi and underscores the role of local philanthropy in supporting state medical resources. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
