Olive Branch Citizens’ Police Academy focuses on school officers, Taser use

The Olive Branch Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy held its Week 3 session with presentations on the role of school resource officers and Taser deployment.

School Resource Officers Tekendria Rice and Pierre Stinson led part of the class and discussed the School Resource Officer Division’s role in protecting schools and building relationships with students and the community.

Sergeant Andrew Artz then presented information about Taser deployment and its effects. Several participants volunteered for the full experience, which the department said provided firsthand knowledge of Taser use when properly conducted.

John, the store manager of Mugshot’s in Olive Branch, attended as an honored guest and provided dinner for the class. The post was signed by Ken Adams, Olive Branch mayor.
