Mississippi names Dr. Daniel Harrison director of ApprenticeshipMS
Mississippi has named Dr. Daniel “Deano” Harrison director of the Mississippi Office of Apprenticeship, known as ApprenticeshipMS, the office said in a Facebook post. The announcement identified Harrison as the new leader of the state’s effort to expand registered apprenticeship programs.
Registered apprenticeships combine paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction and often lead to industry-recognized credentials. ApprenticeshipMS connects Mississippians with career pathways while helping employers develop the skilled workers they need to grow, the post said.
The Facebook post said Harrison will lead efforts to expand high-quality apprenticeship opportunities that respond to industry demand, strengthen the state’s talent pipeline and support economic growth in every region. Expanding apprenticeships is a strategy used by states and employers to address skills shortages and create more direct pathways from training to employment.
Details about Harrison’s background and specific initiatives were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
