Auditor urges EEF cards for teachers before professional development days
State Auditor Shad White’s office said in a Facebook post that teachers should receive EEF cards before their professional development days and that the timing of those payments is controlled by the Mississippi Department of Education and local school districts.
In June, the Mississippi Department of Education committed in writing to the auditor’s office that it would “make EEF funds available to teachers on July 15, 2026,” the post said. The auditor’s office reiterated its commitment to transparency in state government and to ensuring teachers do not have to spend their own money to set up classrooms.
The auditor’s statement frames the availability of EEF cards as a practical matter for teachers preparing classrooms and attending professional development ahead of the school year. The auditor’s office said the cards are intended to provide teachers access to state education funds for classroom expenses.
The Mississippi Office of the State Auditor said it will continue to monitor the timing of fund distribution and work to make sure funds reach teachers promptly. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
