The Pushmataha Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution donated snacks to deputies with the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department, according to the department.
The department said the donation will help keep deputies “fueled, focused, and ready to serve our community.” It thanked the chapter for supporting its deputies and described the organization as a community partner.
Jon Ross Myers founded Mississippi News Group in 2013. Before founding the organization, he worked at The Daily Mississippian, The Marion Salute and The Southern Sentinel. A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
