Amazon invests $12 billion, adds 800 jobs in Mississippi, Reeves says

Gov. Tate Reeves said in a Facebook post that Amazon.com is investing another $12 billion and creating 800 more jobs across Madison and Hinds counties.

Reeves wrote that the announcement brings total investment to $25 billion and 2,000 jobs in announcements in Madison, Warren and Hinds counties in the last two years. Reeves, the governor of Mississippi, has frequently promoted economic development and large corporate projects as a key state priority.

Amazon, a major e-commerce and cloud computing company, has expanded operations across the United States in recent years. The additional investment in Mississippi represents a continuation of that trend and could affect local hiring, supply chains and tax bases in the counties involved.

In his post Reeves said the company “isn’t just reinvesting in our state — they are again betting on our people. Mississippi has momentum and THIS is our time!” State and local leaders often cite such announcements as evidence of economic momentum.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
