Taylorsville woman sentenced in Medicaid fraud case
Aug. 6, 2025 – A Taylorsville woman has been sentenced for defrauding the state’s Medicaid program, Attorney General Lynn Fitch announced Tuesday.
Pearly Youngblood, a former employee of Blessing Hearts Healthcare, pleaded guilty to one count of Medicaid fraud after submitting false claims for services she did not provide. The case was investigated and prosecuted by the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office.
“Medicaid is an important part of our social safety net, providing access to medical services for those who would otherwise not be able to afford it,” said Fitch. “My office is dedicated to holding those who defraud this program accountable. I am proud of the investigators and prosecutors here who are committed to watching out for the taxpayers and to making sure Medicaid is there when our neighbors need it.”
On July 28, Circuit Judge David Strong ordered Youngblood to pay $16,598.40 in restitution to the Mississippi Division of Medicaid and assessed $4,000 in additional fines and fees. She was also sentenced to five years of non-adjudicated probation under the supervision of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
In addition to the sentence, Youngblood will remain on the federal exclusion list for five years, barring her from participating in Medicaid, Medicare, or any other federal healthcare program.
