Toppers rally to beat Williams Baptist 8-2; game two suspended
WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. — Blue Mountain Christian rallied for an 8-2 victory over Williams Baptist on Thursday, and game two of the doubleheader was suspended and will start tomorrow morning in the eighth inning, Blue Mountain Christian said.
The Toppers struck first when Cody Presley belted a two-run homer to left in the opening inning, bringing home Jake Meilstrup. Williams Baptist tied the game in the third when Lawson Aaron delivered a two-run single that cashed Will Riley and Gavin Mink, according to the report.
Blue Mountain Christian reclaimed the lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Gates Gerhart and a bases-loaded RBI by Reise Thomas. Trace Roy added a sacrifice fly in the fifth and a two-run single in the sixth; a later Williams Baptist error allowed Roy to score and make it 8-2.
Presley finished with two hits and two RBIs, Roy had three RBIs and Jarret Morris recorded multiple hits. Blue Mountain Christian said ace Benji Webb went the distance, allowing two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
