Toppers open SSAC play with 4-3 win over UT Southern
NEW ALBANY, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian said its women’s tennis team opened Southern States Athletic Conference play with a 4-3 victory over UT Southern in New Albany.
The Toppers gained early momentum in doubles, winning two of three matches. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos defeated their opponents 6-1, and Kiersten Terris and Nami Malyaporn added a 6-2 win. Lina Cetina and Lucia Rodriguez Garcia dropped a closely contested doubles match, 7-6.
In singles, Mordiz continued her strong play at No. 1, winning 6-2, 6-0. Cetina followed with a 7-5, 6-0 victory, and Malyaporn secured an important point with a 6-0, 6-3 result. Ramos pushed her match to a third-set tiebreaker but fell 2-10. Rodriguez Garcia lost 0-6, 3-6, and Terris was defeated 3-6, 0-6.
The hard-fought result gave Blue Mountain Christian its first conference win in its opening SSAC matchup of the season. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
