Toppers fall to Thomas in SSAC series finale

Thomasville, Georgia — Blue Mountain Christian University fell 13-2 to Thomas on Saturday in the series finale of their Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) matchup, the school reported.

Thomas opened the scoring with four runs in the second inning and added five more in the third, then pushed another run across in the fourth to build a commanding lead.

Blue Mountain Christian got on the board in the fifth when Cody Presley singled through the left side to score Gavin Foley. The Toppers added a run in the sixth on an RBI single by Jake Meilstrup that brought home Jarrett Morris. Presley and Meilstrup each recorded RBIs, and Jacob Bryant and Foley helped create opportunities on the bases, the report said.

Benji Webb took the loss, pitching 2.1 innings and recording one strikeout. Christian Maness followed in relief. Chip Harris struck out two batters in his inning, and Judson Griffin and Jesse Hancock also appeared in relief, with Hancock delivering a scoreless frame and a strikeout.

Blue Mountain Christian will look to rebound when it visits Freed-Hardeman University on March 31 at 1:00 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
