Poplarville and Picayune have been selected as the featured matchup for the Mississippi High School Sports Page’s South Game of the Week. The post invited fans to choose which team they support.

A Mississippi journalist and writer based in Ripley, he received second place in poetry in the 2025 William Faulkner Literary Competition for "The Garden."
