Blue Mountain Christian loses 61-57 to Life University
Blue Mountain Christian University lost a closely contested Southern States Athletic Conference game to Life University, 61-57, Wednesday at Tyler Gymnasium, the school said in a release.
The Toppers and Life traded runs and momentum swings throughout the game, with neither team able to build a decisive lead until Life pulled ahead in the final minutes. Blue Mountain Christian applied pressure on defense to limit clean looks and kept the contest within reach through the second half, the release said.
Maddie Kirk led Blue Mountain Christian with 17 points and seven rebounds. Rebecca Walter scored 13 points and collected six defensive rebounds, and reserve McKenzie Williams added 10 points and seven rebounds in limited minutes. Isabella Carlson had six points and four assists as she directed the offense. The Toppers shot 45.3 percent from the field and made 85.7 percent of their free throws.
Blue Mountain Christian will travel to Nashville to face Welch College on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6:00 p.m. The game was reported by the university’s athletics department. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
