Supreme Court vacates lower-court order on Mississippi redistricting, post says
A Facebook post by a Mississippi official said the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday vacated a 2025 lower-court order that had required the state to redraw three legislative districts and remanded the case to the original three-judge panel.
The post said the high court again recognized that race may not be considered in drawing legislative maps and that the remand could lead to reinstatement of the state’s 2022 legislative maps.
The author wrote that redistricting in Mississippi involves at least three separate areas — legislative, judicial and congressional — and that each requires careful consideration of potential effects and further clarity from the courts in some cases.
The post described the decision as a win for the principle that “all Americans are created equal” and said more work remains to fully resolve maps after years of lower-court actions it characterized as unconstitutional.
Redistricting typically follows the census and can affect political representation and future elections. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
