Mississippi joins Trump administration pilot ‘A Home for Every Child’
Gov. Tate Reeves said Mississippi will participate in the Trump administration’s pilot initiative, “A Home for Every Child,” a program his office says supports President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump’s executive order, “Fostering the Future for American Children and Families.” Reeves announced the participation in a Facebook post.
The initiative, Reeves’ post said, focuses on ensuring that a foster home is available for every child in the system and reflects an emphasis on protecting children, strengthening families and making government systems work effectively for the people they serve.
Foster care placement and family services are managed at the state level, and federal pilot programs are often designed to test new approaches and encourage coordination between state agencies and the federal government. Supporters of such efforts say pilot projects can highlight best practices and identify obstacles to placing children in stable homes.
Reeves’ post said Mississippi looks forward to the partnership. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
