Utility warns restoration notices unreliable during winter storm
The utility said Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. that automated power restoration notifications are going out as sections of its system are re-energized, but that those messages may not be fully reliable during winter storm restoration.
Crews are focusing on restoring the backbone of the system, including three-phase lines that serve critical infrastructure such as water and gas facilities, the utility said in a Facebook post.
The utility said when a section of line is repaired and energized, an automated message is sent to members connected to that section. Customers whose service is fed from a tap line may not have power restored if there is separate damage beyond the main line, even if they receive a notice.
The utility asked customers who receive a restoration notice but remain without power to re-report their outage so crews can identify and address damage outside the backbone system. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
