Social media post wishes public safe Memorial Day

A Facebook post wished everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day and included a quotation attributed to Abraham Lincoln, the post said.

The short message read, “We would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day.” It also included the quotation attributed to Lincoln: “A nation that does not honor its heroes will not long endure.” The post used hashtags including #MemorialDay2026, #ThankYou, #Remember and #Honor.

Memorial Day is a U.S. federal holiday observed to honor military personnel who died while serving. Observances commonly include visiting cemeteries and memorials, flying the flag at half-staff until noon, and community parades and ceremonies that recognize the sacrifices of service members and their families.

The Facebook message reflects a common practice by organizations and community groups to combine remembrance with safety reminders on the holiday. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
