Mississippi public safety leaders convene at 2026 summit
Attorney General Lynn Fitch and DPS Commissioner Sean Tindell invited OPD to participate in the 2026 Mississippi Public Safety Summit, the OPD posted on its Facebook page. OPD Public Information Officer Breck Jones shared the stage with Therese Apel of Darkhorse Press and Gulfport PIO Lieutenant Jason DuCré to discuss transparency, community relationships and communicating with confidence and clarity through the media.
The summit brings together law enforcement, prosecutors, emergency managers and other public safety officials for statewide discussions on policy, coordination and public engagement. Organizers typically use such gatherings to share best practices and to strengthen partnerships that affect public safety across the state.
In its post, OPD said it was proud to play a role in the conversations and to continue building relationships that make Mississippi’s public safety community stronger. Emphasizing transparency and clear communication can help agencies improve public trust and more effectively inform communities during emergencies and routine operations.
