Pelosi Says Second Stimulus Check Could Come Before End of 2020
On Friday, House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi stated that a second stimulus check could be issued to citizens before the end of the year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, she says that it will happen, if President Trump “wants to.”
“The biggest step forward… in the negotiations is, I think they’re about to embrace the science in a substantial way,” Pelosi told MSNBC. “We put pen to paper… we are writing the bill, and hopefully we will be able to resolve it… we could do that before the election if the president wants to.”
The president has repeatedly blamed Pelosi for the failure of a second package to be approved, due to not wanting to pass anything that may aide the president in the November election.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has repeatedly warned the White House and House of Representatives to not pass a bill of over a trillion dollars in economic relief.
If a deal could be struck before November 3, checks would most likely reach citizens, schools, and small businesses before years end.
