Yazoo Backwater Study Draft Environmental Impact Statement meetings

July 18 UPDATE– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District has announced a series of public meetings to gather feedback on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Yazoo Backwater Study Area. The DEIS, published on June 28, 2024, outlines proposed actions and potential impacts related to flood risk management in the region.

Residents, stakeholders, and interested parties are encouraged to attend these meetings to learn more about the study and provide their input. The meetings will be held at the following locations and times:

In-Person Meetings:

NOTE CHANGE OF LOCATION: The meetings previously scheduled on Monday, July 22 at South Delta Elementary School in Rolling Fork will now be held at South Delta High School Gymnasium located at 303 Parkway St, Rolling Fork, MS 39159. Meeting times will remain the same.

Meetings at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.

During these meetings, attendees will have the opportunity to review project materials, ask questions, and provide feedback on the DEIS. Public participation is crucial to ensuring that all viewpoints are considered in the decision-making process.
