Suspect Arrested in Wells Fargo Bank Robbery

The Flowood Police Department has an arrest in a robbery that happened on Saturday morning.

According to Flowood Police, a man came into the Wells Fargo Bank on Lakeland Drive with a bag and demanded that the clerk put money into it. Although the man didn’t use a weapon, it appeared that he had one under his shirt in video surveillance.

The clerk gave the man money and he fled on foot.

After an investigation, police apprehended and arrested Jay Giles, a Birmingham man, at a hotel in Flowood.

It was discovered that Giles was on Federal probation for committing another bank robbery. He will be charged with Armed Robbery.

Flowood Police thanked the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI on their Facebook for their assistance in apprehending the suspect.
