The second week of the Legislative Session, the Senate passed Senate Resolution 2 commending retiring Mississippi Highway Patrol Division Leader Col. Randy C. Ginn for his 36 years of service to the state.
The Senate honored Colonel Ginn, of Pearl, Thursday, Jan. 11, on the Senate chamber floor. Senator Daniel Sparks led the presentation, which brought lawmakers to their feet to applaud Colonel Ginn’s stellar career. On July 1, 2020, Ginn was named Colonel and Director of the Mississippi Highway Patrol, and Assistant Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety. Colonel Ginn has also served as the Director of ECITE, Major of Central Region Enforcement, and Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent for the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
The Jim Hill High School Choir, under direction of Pamela Moody, performed in the Capitol rotunda at noon, on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the invitation of Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann, who began the tradition last year. Senators Norwood and Frazier both welcomed the Jackson public high school choir before the performance.
Lt. Gov. Hosemann issued committee assignments and appointed chairmen and vice chairmen of Senate committees, which allows senators to begin meeting and drafting legislation.
