Mississippi transportation department recognizes truck drivers during appreciation week

The Mississippi Department of Transportation is recognizing professional truck drivers during National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, which runs Sept. 13-19, and joining the American Trucking Associations in highlighting their contributions.

About 3.6 million professional truck drivers nationwide deliver food, fuel, medicine, clothing and other essential goods. They transport more than 11 billion tons of goods and products each year, accounting for more than 70% of the nation’s total annual freight.
